SEER2 and HSPF2 Explained
What the efficiency ratings on a heat pump actually mean.
SEER2 (cooling)
Higher SEER2 means less electricity for cooling. The federal minimum is around 14.3 in the South; high-efficiency units reach 20+.
HSPF2 (heating)
HSPF2 measures heating efficiency over a season. 7.5+ is good; cold-climate units also list performance at 5°F.
